Allyson, Abbey and Erin have attended the Network Educator's Program in New York City at Bumble and bumble University. This program is for stylists who are committed to becoming leaders within their salons and in the industry. At Colour Line we refer to them as our Bb Network Educators.

Hairdressers at the height of their careers are often left wondering: “What’s next?” Rather than burn out, as many do, teaching is a way to shine on. But teaching well doesn’t necessarily come naturally and is a skill in itself. Becoming a Bb.Network Educator allows key stylists to learn how to translate dedication, passion and expertise to other members of the salon team. Our Bb Network educators hold bi-monthly educational meetings within our salon as well as meet on a regular basis with our Regional Director on product trends. The team of Educators will also be enjoying the annual conference in Chicago on September 2, 2010 along with other Midwest educators.

MODEL SEARCH....

Bumble and bumble is known for their styling, and Colour Line has been selected to participate in a hands-on class as an introduction to their approach - translating the work they do for fashion shows into looks that clients can wear. Bumble's Artist Samantha will demonstrate and educate our team on runway looks, while we learn how essential products are used to building them, and explore ways to teach the tools, trends and tips to our guests.

Models must be available 11:00a - 4:00p / Model Requirements

• models must be 18 or older
• models must come in with clean, dry hair
• models must arrive with day makeup (models should bring makeup with them for touch-ups)
• models must be responsible for their own wardrobe: think Saturday dinner date or wear dark skinny or straight jeans, plain white or black tank tops (no collar) and black heels or black flats (no sneakers)

Hair Requirements

• fine to medium texture
• between shoulder blade and mid-back length
• healthy virgin hair or natural-looking hair color
• hair that has natural wave

If you would like to participate please send model images (front, side, and back images) on or before July 13, 2010. Samantha will be seeking 2 models to participate in class demonstratons and they entire team of stylist at Colour Line are also seeking models. There are many opportunities to participate. Find a friend and have a girls day out!

Colour Line will join with Matter of Trust (http://www.matteroftrust.org/) in the relief efforts of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. Matter of Trust is an ecological public 501 c 3 charity established in 1998. Salons across the US, Canada and beyond support their Hair Mat Oil Spill Program which was developed by Phil McCrory, a hair stylist from Alabama. He observed that the fur on Alaskan otters were completely soaked with oil while watching CNN coverage on the 1989 Exxon Valdez Oil spill. He began testing how much oil he could collect with hair clippings from his salon and then invented the hair mat, which has other uses, including fertilizer. Colour Line will begin sweeping up our hair clippings and forwarding to US manufacturers who weave them into mats that can soak up oil.

We also ask for your support by bringing in your washed, used (even with runs) nylon stockings. The stockings are used to make hair "booms" which are sausage shaped. Hair is stuffed into recycled nylons (with mesh to provide a strong exterior). These booms are tied together and used to encircle and contain oil spills to keep oil from spreading.

A special THANK YOU to Debi and Margaret (guests of Colour Line) for bringing this information to Colour Line. We are very appreciative and look forward to playing an important role in the Gulf Oil Relief Efforts.

APRIL PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT - Bb Surf Spray

Bumble and bumble Network Educator Erin is recommending Surf Spray....

WHAT: Surf spray gives hair body, texture and lift. Its great for wavy hair and also enhances a "sexy" beachy look.

WHY: Hair that is fine will be ehanced with body. Surf Spray gives a matte finish.

WHEN: Use either to give body to the hair when straight or enhance waves on a summer day.

HOW: Straight hair: 2 sprays in wet hair - dry - then spray a little at root area and re-dry hair.
Curly or wavy hair: spray into hair after towel dry and let your hair air dry or difuse with blow dryer.

Cocktail fun:

• Surf Spray + Grooming Creme = beachy hair; Grooming creme helps surf spray to adhere to the hair. You can spray Surf Spray and then use grooming creme to "rope" the hair and then allow hair to air dry. A great beachy look is achieved.
• Suf Spray + Thickening Spray = lots of body and hold to fine hair
